and other urgent marine information are received. Since its invention, the telephone used on a ship has evolved along with the technology of the time. Not only was there an evolution in the instruments but many different manufacturers produced various styles and a certain uniqueness to their wall and desk telephones. The uniqueness of the old nautical telephones has become very attractive and many people have found these to be interesting collectables.
Nautical telephones do not provide the convenience of simple, easy-to-use, inexpensive, private and generally reliable telephone service to home, office, automobile or other locations, but are generally procured for decorative purposes.
